Participation to the workshop on « Raising public awareness for the integration of underground biodiversity into reforestation programs and national conservation policies »

On November 15, 2025, IPFAT-ONG took part in a training workshop organized at the Agricultural University K-DK in Parakou by the NGO Avenir Alafia, under the theme “Raising Public Awareness for the Integration of Soil Biodiversity into Reforestation Programs and National Conservation Policies”

This event brought together researchers, students, policy makers, NGOs, and local communities to highlight the importance of soil microorganisms and mycorrhizal fungi in ecological restoration and climate change adaptation. IPFAT-ONG was represented by TETELI Clément, who delivered two major scientific presentations: “Impact of Land Management Practices on the Functional Diversity of Soil Biodiversity (Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi)” and “Strategy for Sustainable Forest Restoration through Mycorrhizal Application in Response to Climate Change: From Genetics to Nursery Inoculation”, showcasing innovative approaches to integrate mycorrhizal fungi into reforestation programs.

The workshop also addressed key topics such as biological nitrogen fixation by symbiotic bacteria, underground carbon sequestration, legislation on plant genetic resources, and the integration of soil biodiversity into national conservation policies. The importance of this workshop lies in raising awareness among local and national stakeholders, creating a dialogue platform between researchers and decision-makers, and strengthening capacities for more inclusive conservation policies. This participation enabled IPFAT-ONG to consolidate its expertise, expand its network, and reaffirm its commitment to promoting forest ecosystem conservation and soil biodiversity in Africa.
